The Memorial Walkway is a winding path down behind the main flag assembly area. There are several memorial plaques that have been donated by various service organizations, including most recently (October 2003) the USSVI memorial plaque (on the stone in the foreground above) dedicated to the 65 submarines and their crews lost since the creation of the US Submarine force. From the flag assembly area looking
southward, Mt. Rainier is ever present. A magnificent setting for the final
resting place of our nation's heroes, our veterans.
Tahoma National Cemetery was established November 11, 1993 and opened for interments on October 1, 1997. Text & images submitted by Patrick Householder Seattle Base CDR & USSVI Nat'l Secretary |
