The Arkansas Razorback Base announces that it has assumed the maintenance of the USS SNOOK Memorial currently located at MacArthur park in Little Rock, Arkansas.

This is in conjunction with the Base's plans and activities in the development (with the City of North Little Rock) of the berthing of the USS RAZORBACK after it completes its journey from Turkey to its North Little Rock dockside Museum location.

The USS SNOOK Memorial is a memorial to one of the 52 Submarines lost during WWII. USS SNOOK is the adopted submarine of the State of Arkansas SubVets of WWII .

Prior to this announcement, the Snook Memorial's maintenance was a shared project of the members of the WWII SubVets of Arkansas and the members of the USSVI Razorback Base.

To maintain the memorial site and its Mark 14 torpedo centerpiece, Razorback Base members have initiated, assumed, shared, overseen and/or managed many work parties such as the complete cleaning and painting in the summer of 2002.

The Snook Memorial will be moved from its present site to the USS Razorback Museum location after the Razorback site has been completed; the USS Razorback is moored; and the museum's Snook site is made ready for the move and subsequent public opening.
